TTT: My Most Recent Adds To My TBR

TTT-NEW

Hosted By That Artsy Reader Girl

Truth is I haven’t been going on my big book shopping hauls since I found out I was pregnant. So my TBR list is still the same with no add-ons to the list. With that being said I thought I could share with you all how I choose my next TBR book to read and what’s currently in my TBR list still since I haven’t added any new books to my bookshelf.

TBR Jar

This is my TBR jar for books that I still need to read. What I do is I get a piece of paper and write down the title and the authors name on the paper and fold it up and add it to the jar. I recently started doing this for this year, Instead of staring at my shelf and trying to decide what to read next I just select a piece of paper at random. It’s a new fun way for me to pick my next book to read. I currently have 52 books on my TBR list and hoping to finish one book a week. I would like to select a new book every Thursday (That’s if I stick to my reading schedule)

Since I have 52 books on my TBR list I will share the top 5 books I’m really looking forward and finally finishing this year.

Blogoween Day 5: Creepy Crawlies

october-backgrounds-4

Blogoween Hosted Today By Kaleena @ Reader Voracious

You know designing today’s logo I was not thrilled about adding the spiders but considering today is all about creepy crawlies I had to add the only one creepy crawly that I seriously dislike with a passion.

Some people are scared of heights, scared of roller coasters, snakes…Spiders or all above! I, however, have one fear and only one fear and that’s all spiders. I dislike them so much and created this big fear in my mind as a kid were every spider I see I have to leave, and I mean walk away immediately, no questions ask.

I can relate with Ron Weasley, we share the same fear. He had it pretty bad with the spiders, luckily for me, there are no spiders as big as an elephant!

Spiders are a big deal to me. I can jump out of airplanes I can ride every ride on top of the Stratosphere Casino/ Hotel, and there is nothing else in this world that scares me the most right now as an adult but simply a small spider. Why? I don’t know I was never bitten or touched by one they are simply creepy things that I don’t want to be around.

IMG_1541

My Neck Tattoo

People always ask me if I don’t like spiders why is there one on my neck? It’s my biggest fear like I said already, however, Spiders are very interesting insects to read about. I cringe up when I did some research on them. They have a big role in this world, I will never kill one but I will never make it my duty to save one because I can’t be near one. I have it tattooed on me because It is the only fear that I can not overcome in life. When you have a fear of something you should always push yourself to overcome it. My neck tattoo was done by my old coworker a couple years ago. (FACT: I was a body piercer for awhile)

Jabberwocky By Lewis Carroll

This thing is all sorts of creepiness. I would not want to run into this thing at any time of the day. I’m sure you all would agree to this.

Pale Man From Pan’s Labyrinth

Whoever created this creature was wrong for this. I know this isn’t from a book but I mean this creature scared me to death when I saw it on T.V I couldn’t believe it! I had a nightmare about it and I couldn’t be madder at this person who thought of this ugly damn thing. It messed me up. It eats children for a living!

Jaws From Jaws

I’m sure most of you are scared to go into the ocean back then and today because of this.

Dementors From Harry Potter

They are something to be feared, Would not want to encounter them.

White Walkers From Game Of Thrones

No thank you! I don’t like the cold I don’t like zombie’s eating things that are multiplied at a fast rate. This is all too creepy for me. They need to sit themselves down and make a snowman because this is not for me.

Hope you enjoyed this creepy post, Because I sure didn’t, not fun looking at the things that creep you out the most. What creeps you all out? Let me know down below. TTFN.

Blogoween Day 4: Top 5 Books About Witches

Untitled

Blogoween Hosted Today By Kaleena @ Reader Voracious

The fourth day of Blogoween! Holy cow it’s seriously spooky over here in Vegas. Cloudy skies, a little bit of rain, You can’t beat that. I’m truly loving October so far and every day is just getting better and better.

For today we are going to discuss my top 5 books about witches.

hocus-pocus-sequel-book-cover-1079832

Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel By A. W. Jantha

Well well well, here we are again. This book always seems to appear on my postings one way or another. I’m sure you all are aware of the traditional story from the 90’s with the sequel it’s no different. Nothing but a witch story.

My all time favorite is the Wicked series by Gregory Maguire. A wonderful story about the Wicked Witch Of The West from the Land Of OZ and who she was before the wickedness. Shout out to my mother for getting me these wonderful gems for my 22nd birthday!

IMG_1534

Soooo I have a confession to make, I have not had the opportunity to read any other witch stories, movies yes, but for reading sadly no. So I thought I can change things up a bit by adding the next two Witch books that I’m interested in reading that is on my October Book Haul list for this month. Hope you all don’t mind this.

The Witch’s Daughter By Paula Brackston

Goodreads

This story sounds like the best witch story to read yet! Has anyone here read this book? I saw this at Barnes And Noble and marked it for my October Book Haul. Everything about it to the originality of the book cover to the storyline. I’m pretty stoked about this one.

9781250118394

The Return Of The Witch By Paula Brackston

Goodreads

If I’m going to read the first book, of course, I have to read the second book! Something about the book covers speaks to me, I really love the covers. I have not heard of Paula Brackston before so I did a little bit of research to find out that this author has other witch stories, so If you are into witches I would definitely look her up because her stories seem very original and unique. “I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little books too!”

Okay, so I wanted to put a bit more Wickedness to this Witchy post by taking you all back to the 90’s and early 2000’s by sharing with you all some pictures of when I was a witch two times for Halloween growing up.

IMG_1535

Spider Witch

I have no clue why my mother wanted me to be this for Halloween! The only fear I have in this world is a spider. I remember being at the Halloween store crying when I saw the spider on this costume, I mean we live in a desert and we sometimes come across a Tarantula in our house. I was a kid playing Mermaids in the tub and I saw a HUGE Tarantula crawling up the tub, I screamed and then my mother ran in the bathroom with a broomstick…So yes very traumatizing as a kid, and that’s not the first time that happened!

IMG_1536

IMG_1538

Hey everyone that’s my Mother as a Genie in the 90’s!

(FACT: As a kid, I had an obsession with putting stickers on the walls. Some kids draw on the walls, put their boogers on the wall, I was the kid with the stickers!)

Halloween School Party

Good Witch

This is when I was living in Michigan. Michigan is the place to be when it comes to Halloween. I had such a blast that year. Apple Cider Mills, Hayrides in the woods when it’s all dark outside, old vintage houses from the 20’s that are decked out scary. Scary haunted old farms abanded blue rooms which are also called The Asylums but we don’t call them that in this generations it’s a Psychiatric Hospital. If you really want to be scared Michigan is the place to be for this holiday. And let’s not forget Devils Night, Detroit is where it all started after all.

IMG_1539

My mother on the left, Me, My Aunt Nicky who is my mothers younger sister and my Aunt Dotty who is taking the picture who is my Mothers older sister.

Let’s bring it back to the present time now. A Witch is a big icon for Halloween, So many interesting facts about Witches and stories to read about them. I do love Witches but not with a passion like most, however, before I sign off on this post I would like to share with you all some of my favorite Witches.

Recognize any of these awesome ladies?

I’m gonna wrap this up, Thank you for reading and have a Wicked Day. TTFN.

Blogoween Day 3: Trick Or Treat

Untitled

Blogoween Hosted Today By Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward

Trick Or Treat, Smell my feet, Give me something good to eat! Who remembers running around as a kid yelling that out? I know I did.

Happy Day three for Blogoween. Today we are going to discuss Trick or treating with my favorite book characters. Who’s going to be in my Trick Or Treating group? Where would we go Trick Or Treating? What places would have the best treats? What did you dress up as?

THE TRICK OR TREATING SPOT

The Land Of OZ

ARE COSTUMES

  • Princess Leia – Evil Queen From Snow White
  • Inej Ghafa- Little Red Riding Hood From Grimm’s Fairy Tales
  • Nina Zenik- Frankenstein’s Bride
  • Jude- Wednesday From The Addams Family
  • Bagheera- Himself
  • Myself – Cruella Deville From 101 Dalmations

THE STORY

Originally Binx was invited to the gang, however, he had witch duty over in Salem, therefore, Bagheera is our spirit animal for the Wicked Trick Or Treating. It’s not a true Halloween without a black cat! Dorothy was going to be invited but the gang voted to pass since we didn’t want a party pooper complaining about going back home.

To get the best of the best treats we would immediately start out at Munchkinland. Once it was midnight we would go straight towards the Haunted Forest heading towards the Witch’s Castle to request a photo with the Wicked Witch Of The West or at least get a picture of her when she’s not looking, also with the flying monkeys. We would more than likely run into some shenanigans, but it would all be worth it. It would be a Wicked night.

That would be my Bookish Trick Or Treating adventure. Thanks for reading. TTFN.
